The Meeting

They usually respond by the gentle rustle of their leaves. For the wind, in a clear exhibit of its childishness, always tries to orchestrate our conversation! And somewhere deep within, my spirit dances to the rhythm of the waves. Their erratic moods are sometimes difficult to adapt to, but it their willingness to listen that overwhelms me. And there, in the towering night when I speak to my chosen star, I cannot help noticing that the many others around it have been listening too. Then that ‘something’ that is stretched over the cosmos that immediately identifies with me. Even though I never gave it a call... * Sometimes we celebrate my victories by dining together in the open night. And when I see life for what it is not, they cry to keep me company, but more so, to make me understand that it is quite unnecessary. ...

To sir, with love

It was the year 1996. Another warm summer’s day. The curtains had been drawn so that a faded shade of yellow coloured the otherwise bland room. I sat there gazing dully at my father, a string of thoughts slowly engulfing my mind. -Would I ever make it to the tenth standard? -If I persistently remained dim-witted for the next five years (i.e. from 6th to 10th std.), failing in my tenth boards was of course one thing-but it was more, the forced association with maths for that long a time that frightened me. I gulped. Between living a nightmare, and choosing death, I wasn’t left with much option. My brother was to blame for my newly discovered tenth standard phobia .Watching him pace across the room with a book in his hand every day and every night with a “board-exams-can-kill” attitude, it was, but natural, to treat tenth standard as the ultimate crucible and something against which I could measure all scales of progress, to and fro. (Maths which I considered as a separate entity altoge...

INTOXICATION

There is magic in the air, above us, around us... There is fantasy merged with everything absolute... There is mystery pronounced in the echoes of the cosmos... There is divinity infused in every layer of the universe... There is purity in every element of creation... There is eternity sucked into the secrets that lie beyond... No wonder, life is the greatest experience of them all !

The five chaotic elements

A flood of emotions. A stream of thoughts. All at once. Dynamic equilibrium. But only for an instant . Then you are drenched.Drained. The bridge collapses. The heart and mind part ways, like distributaries, each thirsty, to meet again, at the sea of eternal knowledge. The fresh air,its fragrance, Awakens the soul. Stirs the conscience. Tranquility. But only for an instant . Then the air,now a compound of temptations, creeps in. The filter breaks. You become exposed.Permeable. The soul loses you. Or do you lose the soul? A burning desire, An ignited mind. The heated air lifts you, Above all else, Above all others. But only for an instant . Then the flames lick you, your identity, And you remain in this body nomore. Where you live. Where you die. And where you gain everything in between. The world. Beautiful.Mysterious.Enchanting. But only for an instant . Then life takes over you. You are lost, Lost in its wilderness, Searching for answers, When they are all here, All around you. A ...

To That World And Back

The stillness around, encapsulated by a blanket of silence, pronounced a state of nothingness . I got out of my car, sensing that the 'woman in me' was suddenly radiating with sublime beauty, bringing with it, an awareness of belonging to the world that stretched far beyond. I saw him almost instantly.Perhaps someone told him i had come, for he ran towards me, with the maddening air of one, who had just been given the elixir of life. I bent down, my arms outstretched, to embrace him. He cried, irrepressibly, hugging me tighter than ever-as though he had been waiting for years for this moment to come by. And then i knew . It did not matter to him that he was blind. I was his world, the way he saw it, and he wanted nomore... ________________________________________________________ The above passage, is only a crude and partial description of what i believe is the most beautiful dream i have ever had. As is the nature of dreams, the sequence of events are disconnected in some way...

The trip to B'lore

ATTENTION!!! I was studying for my GRE when I wrote this article. I wasn't trying to show off, just having some fun and playing around with words. In retrospect, I know for sure that I will not remember half the words I used here! Having received a plethora of requests commonly voicing an interest that i must start making my entries go public, i decided to give it a shot-and what better way, but to write my first entry on the B'lore trip we went to recently. I must admit that when i first heard the possibility of an IV trip to B'lore from my classmates, i thought it was just another of those quixotic notions they had launched in their minds-and were now trying to implant the same in everyone else too! It is interesting really, how the mind develops its own impermeable shield of thoughts to combat something that is unsettled for. I remember quite lucidly, how constantly my classmates fretted over college life(including myself). Eventually it dawned upon the seemingly def...
